Art Hasse, President
Art Hasse is responsible for the corporate vision, strategy, and operations of Kentwood Office Furniture. Mr. Hasse purchased Kentwood Office Furniture in 1990 and has consistently grown the scope and sales of the company year-after-year.
Prior to acquiring Kentwood Office Furniture, Mr. Hasse spent eleven years in various sales management and executive positions at Herman Miller, Inc., including Senior Vice President of Sales. He has also gained fourteen years of experience in sales and marketing management positions with IBM.
Mr. Hasse has a BS in Marketing from the University of Illinois and an MBA from the University of Detroit. He is very active in the community having served on several boards of non-profit organizations and local colleges and universities.
Laura Hopson, Vice President of Sales and Marketing
Laura is responsible for all sales and marketing functions at Kentwood Office Furniture. In this capacity, she is responsible for the sales teams and general management of the Michigan sales locations. She also oversees the corporate marketing functions. Laura joined Kentwood Office Furniture in November 2010.
Prior to Kentwood Office Furniture, Laura was the Vice President of Marketing for Vanerum Stelter. She has extensive experience developing and implementing marketing and sales strategies and directing account teams. Her focus has been on brand development. She has twenty years experience with various companies within the office furniture industry, including Steelcase and Herman Miller.
Laura received a BS in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan and a MBA in Marketing and Finance from Western Michigan University. Hopson has served on and chaired several boards, including Inner City Christian Federation and Providence Home Mortgage, and continues to look to serve the community in many ways.
James Porter, Vice President of Operations
James Porter is responsible for directing all of the company’s operational efforts from order entry, through manufacturing, to delivery and installation. He is also the internal champion for Kentwood’s “Green” initiatives. Mr. Porter joined the company in 2006.
Mr. Porter has over 15 years of experience in operations, logistics, and project management. Prior to joining Kentwood Office Furniture, Mr. Porter served as the Operations Manager for Pella Windows and Doors. He started his career with a Third Party Logistics Provider managing over two million square feet of distribution space for several Fortune 500 companies.
Mr. Porter earned his BSBA degree from The Ohio State University with a double major in Transportation Logistics and Marketing.
Don Boersma, Controller
Don Boersma is responsible for all financial functions at Kentwood Office Furniture. In this capacity, he oversees the finance and accounting teams. Mr. Boersma joined Kentwood Office Furniture in 1999.
Prior to joining Kentwood Office Furniture, Mr. Boersma was the Controller for a national contact lens manufacturer for 8 years. He has also worked as a Senior Auditor for the Grand Rapids office of the professional accounting firm Beener, Garter & Co.
Mr. Boersma graduated from Central Michigan University in Grand Rapids, MI with majors in both Accounting and Finance. He has been a Certified Public Accountant for over 15 years.
Bruce Brower, Brokerage / Wholesale Manager
Bruce Brower is responsible for all of the Brokerage / Wholesale buying and selling functions at Kentwood Office Furniture. His team evaluates, acquires, and sells furniture inventories across North America. Mr. Brower joined Kentwood Office Furniture in 2002.
Prior to his current role with Kentwood Office, Mr. Brower owned and operated a John Deere Lawn and Grounds care business. In his role as President, he was responsible for all day-to-day marketing, sales, and operations functions. He also served Kentwood Office Furniture previously from 1981 to 1992 as a Customer Service Manager.
Jim Doenges, President, Chicago
Jim Doenges is responsible for directing the efforts of the sales team and managing the operations of Kentwood Office Furniture’s Chicago location. Mr. Doenges joined Kentwood Office Furniture in 2002.
Mr. Doenges has over 35 years of experience in the office products and furniture industry. Prior to joining Kentwood Office Furniture, he spent 17 years as owner and operator of Doenges Stationery & Supply. Mr. Doenges brings experience to every facet of the office furniture business from sales management to day-to-day operations.
Mr. Doenges has served on several boards of office furniture industry marketing and buying groups. He is also involved with boards of ministry organizations within his community.
Bob Koehne, President, Indianapolis
Bob Koehne is responsible for directing the efforts of the sales team and managing the operations of Kentwood Office Furniture’s Indianapolis location. Mr. Koehne joined Kentwood Office Furniture in 2012 when Kentwood Office expanded into the Indianapolis market.
Mr. Koehne has a strong background in the office products and furniture industry. Prior to joining Kentwood Office Furniture, he was President of Continental Office Environments in Indiana and Co-President of Business Furniture LLC.
Mr. Koehne graduated from Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN with a degree in Business Management and Marketing.
